Procedures and policies

STEVEN LINKER OD

Dear Patients,

We have been busy behind closed doors and making arrangements for our reopening to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff.

We have been shipping orders for contact lenses, replacement glasses and dry eye products, and scheduling appointments for our tentative reopening on June 1st. We are carefully making changes and taking the utmost precautions to provide the highest level of service to welcome you back. In order to maximize your safety and minimize the risk of exposure to illness, we are taking the following precautions:

  1. We will ask patients who have a fever, cough, trouble breathing, have been tested positive for COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive to the virus, to wait an appropriate time period, as advised by their primary care provider before visiting the office.

  1. We will stagger examination times allowing disinfection of instruments, chairs and all surfaces to be done and allow for proper social distancing. Until further notice we ask that you not bring a companion to your appointment unless you require a caregiver or guardian to assist you. We request that only one parent accompany each child to his or her appointment. We are discouraging siblings from coming into the office to encourage maximum social distancing if they are not also being examined. If you would prefer to wait in your car rather than the waiting room, please let us know when you are in the parking lot and we will text you when your exam room is available.

  1. All staff and patients are required to wear a face covering at all times in the office. We know some may find this inconvenient, but under the circumstances we believe the added safety is well worth any inconvenience. This simple act of safety and courtesy is one that we can undertake together.

  1. Temperatures will be taken with a non-contact forehead thermometer upon checking in for your appointment. Anyone showing signs of fever or illness will be asked to reschedule his or her visit. We will be taking temperatures of all staff members every day.

  1. Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the office. Please feel free to use as necessary.

  1. Please give any frames to the optical staff after trying them on. We have purchased a commercial grade sterilization unit: Kerkau H-75 ( www.kerkau .com ). This allows sterilization of all frames with UVC lights. This unit has internal reflectors for maximal effectiveness.

  1. Your safety is paramount to us. We have installed a commercial grade air filtration unit in the office also with UVC light to kill bacteria and viral particles ( Enviroklenz with UV-C ).

  1. Our state of the art instrumentation allows us to conduct portions of the examination from a further distance. The OPTOS scans 82% of the retina which eliminates the need for dilation or close contact when looking into your eyes. The Marco refraction module enables the refraction to be conducted from across the room. We have installed breath shields on both microscopes as an added measure for safety as well as an acrylic barrier at the front desk.

  1. Please call the office to make an appointment prior to picking up glasses and/or contacts.

  1. When using a credit card for payment you can just supply the office with the information to create a “touchless” transaction.

  1. Please visit our website www.monmouthvision.com and select the contact tab on top and go to registration forms. This will enable you to print and complete required forms prior to your visit.

Please be safe healthy and happy. We will all get through this together.
